And the number one most influential voice in the power generation industry is…

After six months of voting we are pleased to announce the holder of the number 1 spot on our list of the most influential voices in the power generation industry, the Power 100.

The nominee with the most votes is… Charles Soothill, Chief Technology Officer, Alstom Thermal Power! Soothill has been active in developing technologies for efficiency, fuel flexibility and emissions reduction for over 25 years it is perhaps unsurprising that he featured so highly on the list.

However he had tough competition and a close contender and holder of second place was Graham Cooley, CEO of ITM Power, who topped the list several times over the last six months. Howard Johns, Founder and MD of Southern Solar was in third place.

A central theme that ran through this year`s show was integration so we are pleased to see that the list included figures from both the traditional power generation industry as well as thought leaders from the renewables sector. POWER-GEN Europe and its co-located event, Renewable Energy World Europe brings together experts from the entire continent and the list reflects this. The presence of Prof. Dr. Volkan Ş. EDİGER and Ozkan Agis of Turkey in the top 10 shows the growing influence of this nation, which was demonstrated at this year’s conference and exhibition.

So, congratulations to Mr Soothill and thank you to all who voted.

All change at the top of the Power100 with 2 weeks to go!

#Power100With POWER-GEN Europe less than two weeks away, competition is fierce at the top of the Power100, our list of the most influential voices in power generation, as voted for by the industry.

Graham Cooley of ITM Power took an early lead in the challenge and built on it consistently, widening the gap at the top of the table. But a late surge in votes for Charles Soothill of Alstom Power has ensured a new name now tops the table.

Can Mr Soothill hold onto his position at the top of the table for another 11 days? There is still time to let us know your choice, please send us a tweet at @POWERGENEUROPE, using the hashtag #Power100

2 OBE honourees and a host of CEOs make up our current Power 100 Top Ten

#Power100Two month’s ago we started the search for the 100 most influential voices in the European power generation industry and with three month’s left to go, ten nominees have already distinguished themselves from the pack.

Graham Cooley, CEO of ITM Power tops the list with a considerable lead. ITM Power designs and manufactures Hydrogen Energy Systems for Energy Storage and Clean Fuel production. Second on the list is Howard Johns, Founder of Southern Solar, a solar panel installation company based in the UK.

We are delighted to see Juliet Davenport in joint third place. As a recent honouree of an OBE and the only female chief executive in the UK’s renewables industry, Juliet is a true pioneer it is likely that she will continue to garner votes in the coming months. Another OBE recipient, Dale Vince also features on the list and as the founder of the first green electricity company in the world he is another truly influential figure in the European power generation industry.

As the search is pan-European in scope, we’re happy to see the list is fairly diverse; with nominees from Italy, Finland and Belgium in the top ten alone. There is also variety in speciality of the companies on the list, from anaerobic digestion to wind power; a broad spectrum of the energy mix is represented in the list.

Undoubtedly this top ten will change many times before June 6th so please keep an eye on our blog, where we’ll be tracking all movement on the list.
